Scalloped Benches

These benches were built in the summer of 2008 as entries to the biennial furniture exhibition of the Cumberland Furniture Guild. The walnut bench bellow was selected and will be exhibited beginning in July at the Tennessee State Museum, and ending at the Knoxville Museum of Arts from April 2009 to August 2009.  Benches measure 18"H x 14"D x 60"L. All joinery is through-tenons with maple wedges. The 'spike' on the stretcher tenon is ebonized walnut.
